What the business does
The business is the platform. Atelye is designed, built, hosted and operated by its author: the person who writes the code is the person who answers the support address and signs the agreements.
The work is one multi-tenant platform rather than a series of bespoke projects. One codebase, one database, one set of rules — with each business's data isolated from every other business's at both the application layer and the database layer.
Being one person is a constraint, and the platform is built around it. There is no capacity for a bespoke fork per customer, so capability is configured rather than branched, and anything that cannot be made safe by default is not offered at all.
What it is held to
These are properties of the running system, enforced in code and covered by tests — not intentions.
- Isolated by default
- Every business's data is scoped to that business and isolated by the database itself, not only by application code. Each table carries its own isolation policy and its own cross-tenant leak test.
- Changes are recorded
- Every state-changing action is written to an append-only audit record in the same transaction that makes the change. The account the application runs as cannot update or delete those records.
- Nothing fails quietly
- A failure is surfaced and recorded rather than swallowed. Partial failures are reported as partial, and a silent default in place of an error is treated as a defect.
